Mendoza, Argentina

18smI had an absolutely fantastic time in Mendoza.  The city itself was a nice, walkable town filled with shops, parks, and the most amazing food market (more like a flea market for various food vendors).  But the reason for visiting Mendoza is not for the city, but rather to see the provence surrounding the city.  Vino.  Mendoza is the Argetinian wine Country. Iguazu Falls, Argentina

The Iguazu Falls are one of many reasons why I chose South America.  Maybe a year and half ago, when my life was still normal, I remember googling amazing places to visit.  When I came across images of the falls, I looked at my now ex-boyfriend and said “I want to go here”.  The images stood out in my mind ever since.  My third and final day at Iguazu Falls did not disappoint.   Continue reading “Iguazu Falls, Argentina”

The Macuco Trail at Iguazu Falls, Argentina

For day 2 of my Iguazu adventures, I actually did not go to “the” falls.  Instead I chose to take a day to wander Senedero Macuco.  A nature trail which takes about an hour to reach the solo Salta Arrechea waterfall.  This is the one place in the park where visitors have the opportunity to swim.  The trail also provides an opportunity for viewing wildlife like capuchin monkeys, rare birds, lizards, unusual insects and masses of butterflies.

Iguazu Falls, Brazilian Side

I spent three days exploring Iguazu Falls and it’s subtropical rainforest surroundings.  This place can be described as nothing short of magical.  “Magical”  seems to be the only word I can find that comes close to describing my time here.  Each of my three days was an incredibly unique experience.  For this reason, I need to do a separate post about each day here.  I begin on day 1, by exploring the Brazilian side of the falls. Punte Del Este, Uruguay

Murphey’s Law

Ok, I hate to be a complainer. I really do. But that’s what this post is. A big vent session.

For all of you who think traveling is all fun and games, leisure and pleasure… read on. Continue reading “Murphey’s Law”

Buenos Aires, Argentina

3smI don’t know why I am finding this post difficult to write. I think perhaps it is because I did not have an immediate strong reaction to Buenos Aires. It feels a lot like a city that could easily be in the States. Parts of it remind me of New York, others Los Angeles. I did not do as much sight-seeing in Buenos Aires as I have along other stops on my journey. It may be because I was tired from my travels, but more so, after days of analyzing, because I felt right at home in this city. Continue reading “Buenos Aires, Argentina”

Perito Moreno

It felt extremely good to get off the plane and step into warm weather again from El Calafate to Buenos Aires.  But I absolutely MUST share this incredible experience before I run off and explore this new city.  Perito Moreno was a perfect Adios to my Patagnoia explorations.
