The main thing I was looking forward to in Bolivia was the 4 day Jeep trek. I did not know a ton about it beforehand. I knew that every traveler I met who was heading to Bolivia, was heading there for this trek. I also knew I would end up at Salar De Uyuni (the world’s largest salt flat) at some point during the journey. I do not know exactly what I expected, but I did not expect Bolivia to be filled with so much natural beauty. My trek from Tupiza to Uyuni was absolutely one of the coolest things I have ever done. For this post, I will share my experience from Day 1 of 4. Continue reading “Bolivian Jeep Tour, day 1”

Welcome to Bolivia
This post is about my first impression of Bolivia. In fact, just entering Bolivia was a weird experience. So I will start there, at the Argentinian/Bolivian border. Continue reading “Welcome to Bolivia”
Visiting the Provence of Jujuy, Argentina
I am sad to report that this is my final blog post of Argentina (for now). This region has something for everyone. A big city, a rich historical background, and unimaginable natural beauty. You can enjoy the hustle and bustle of San Salvador de Jujuy, hike incredible mountain trails, horse-back ride through Pacha Mama (Mother-Nature), salivate over traditional regional foods, be enchanted by the many charming little towns, and feed your knowledge by visiting historical sites.

Tilcara, Jujuy, Argentina
Tilcara, Tilcara, Tilcara… Where do I even begin? I arrived here on the 21st of April with the intention of staying for 3 nights on my way to Bolivia. A month later, I am begrudgingly preparing to leave this charming little pueblo tomorrow. This town truly is special, and as many other’s have described it, “magical”. Route 68, from Salta to Cafayate

If you find yourself in the provence of Salta, Argentina, I suggest you take this beautiful drive between the small town of Cafayate and the Capital city of Salta. I took a day trip from Salta with my new amigo, Gal. Cafayate is a lovely little pueblo to wander around and visit local wineries. But the highlight of this excursion is the road itself. Salta, Argentina – The City
Salta is both a provence, and a city in Argentina. The city is a great central location for exploring the natural beauty of the region. I enjoyed the city very much. The main plaza reminded me a lot of being in Europe, with it’s ornate architecture and cobblestone streets. The churches are all painted beautiful colors adding to the picturesque atmosphere in Salta. I also loved that the city was small and walkable, with everything easily accessible. Continue reading “Salta, Argentina – The City”
Mendoza, Argentina
I had an absolutely fantastic time in Mendoza. The city itself was a nice, walkable town filled with shops, parks, and the most amazing food market (more like a flea market for various food vendors). But the reason for visiting Mendoza is not for the city, but rather to see the provence surrounding the city. Vino. Mendoza is the Argetinian wine Country. Continue reading “Mendoza, Argentina”
Iguazu Falls, Argentina
The Iguazu Falls are one of many reasons why I chose South America. Maybe a year and half ago, when my life was still normal, I remember googling amazing places to visit. When I came across images of the falls, I looked at my now ex-boyfriend and said “I want to go here”. The images stood out in my mind ever since. My third and final day at Iguazu Falls did not disappoint. Continue reading “Iguazu Falls, Argentina”
Iguazu Falls, Brazilian Side
I spent three days exploring Iguazu Falls and it’s subtropical rainforest surroundings. This place can be described as nothing short of magical. “Magical” seems to be the only word I can find that comes close to describing my time here. Each of my three days was an incredibly unique experience. For this reason, I need to do a separate post about each day here. I begin on day 1, by exploring the Brazilian side of the falls. Continue reading “Iguazu Falls, Brazilian Side”
Buenos Aires, Argentina
I don’t know why I am finding this post difficult to write. I think perhaps it is because I did not have an immediate strong reaction to Buenos Aires. It feels a lot like a city that could easily be in the States. Parts of it remind me of New York, others Los Angeles. I did not do as much sight-seeing in Buenos Aires as I have along other stops on my journey. It may be because I was tired from my travels, but more so, after days of analyzing, because I felt right at home in this city. Continue reading “Buenos Aires, Argentina”
